The ICD Story

Over decades ago, three friends came together to form Institutional Cash Distributors, now ICD. Their idea, born from their experience as investment experts servicing the corporate community, was to make investing in short-term markets an easy and low-pressure experience. The founding principle of the business was to provide extraordinary service and innovative technology, culminating in ICD Portal, an unbiased one-stop-shop for trading money market funds and other short-term investments.

From the beginning, the maxim, “Necessity is the mother of invention” has guided our co-innovation with clients. In the wake of the global financial crisis, when organizations scrambled to better understand their counterparty exposure, we pioneered a new application, Transparency Plus, to provide visibility into underlying holdings for short-term investments.

In 2023, as banking turmoil rippled through the financial markets, institutional investors struggled to gain a comprehensive view of not only their short-term investment exposures, but also those across their entire portfolio. ICD again answered the call, working closely with clients to deliver AI-powered ICD Portfolio Analytics, which enables investors to analyze and report on portfolio risk across all dimensions.

ICD’s commitment to working collaboratively with clients and other market participants to address concerns and take advantage of opportunities is a tenet by which we continue to live. Today, we serve over 500 organizations, across 65 industries in 46 countries around the world.
